Back in 2000, before Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Myspace existed, Luke was working with global organisations to enable them to develop thriving online communities and blogs. Having worked with brands, celebrities, start-ups and SMEs, Luke is a recognised authority on how social media is changing the world of business.
In 2000 Luke co-founded the UK’s first social media consultancy, advising brands such as British Airways PLC, YMCA and Christian Aid on how to create sustainable online engagement. In the past 12 years he has developed and launched over 40 online communities and social networks, including etribes.com, the photo-sharing and blogging community, and Trutap, a mobile social network that grew to 400,000 members.
In 2008 Luke teamed up with ex-Dragon’s Den star, Doug Richard, to launch School for Startups, touring the UK teaching entrepreneurs how to succeed in their ventures. The following year he founded Our Social Times, the popular social media marketing blog. Our Social Times has since grown into a thriving social media consultancy and events company, runs high value conferences and courses across the UK, US and Europe.
Luke is best known for his expertise in social media monitoring, management and measurement. An advisor to social media management dashboard, MarketMeSuite, he is a regular blogger for eConsultancy, Call Centre Helper and The Wall, among others.
“Luke is a rare gem – someone with experience of the realities of social media drawn from working at the cutting edge for many a year. He is deep thinking and thoughtful and a real pleasure to work with. I am happy to recommend him personally”
David Cushman, Managing Director, 90:10 Group
“Unlike some experts who like to treat Social Media as a black art, Luke manages to demystify the whole topic. His hands-on international experience was invaluable for our global organisation”.
Bill Douglas, Head of International Customer Communications, Orange Business Services.
“Luke provided a great, fit-for-purpose Workshop for us on Social Media Marketing. He held the attention of the group, gave them lots of food for thought and stimulated lots of debate. We welcomed his flexible and open style”.
