Mark Zuckerburg, who currently owns a 28% stake in Facebook, said:

“It’s just the beginning of connecting the whole world. I’m so proud of our community for the progress we’ve made. Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world.”

After starting the social network, in a dorm room at Harvard University in 2004, Mark Zuckurberg and his team have seen the social sharing platform increase its active users to 968 million in June. However, Monday saw a new milestone being reached and to celebrate this, Mark Zuckerburg shared this video:

Mark went on to say:

“Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together.”

Zukerburg can now boast a net worth of £27.6 billion and with Facebook owning Instagram and WhatsApp we are also excited to see what can be accomplished in the future.
