Preparing for Monitoring Social Media Bootcamp – London, Weds 31st March

Monitoring Social Media BootcampMonitoring Social Media Bootcamp is only three days away! I can hardly breathe with excitement. The handbooks are printed. The name badges are ready. The wine is chilling – and Marshall Sponder and Nathan Gilliatt are mid-air over the Atlantic, headed for London. Also, in case you missed it, the full programme is now live on the website.

Beyond our six main training workshops, there are going to be some high-value demos and short presentations from some of the best monitoring companies around, including: Brandwatch, Synthesio, Integrasco and Market Sentinel. We also have a sneak preview of the new, soon-to-be-launched, Meltwater Buzz monitoring tool – borne out of their recent acquisition of BuzzGain. No cameras please! (Just kidding, bring your Flip).

Given that it’s going to be a long and intensive training even, we’ve also added a drinks and networking session at the end of the day (5.30-6.30pm). If you’re coming along, be sure to stay for a glass of wine and a chat.

We haven’t quite sold out, but it’s getting close. Attending Bootcamp will be around 150 leading brands – BP, Sony, Pearson, BT, Time Warner, Symantec and Scottish Power, to name a new – plus lots UK Government departments, quangos and charities. If you haven’t got a ticket yet, you need to move quickly.

If you want to prep before Bootcamp (always a good idea), here’s a preview of Marshall Sponder’s presentation on “How to Build your Own Social Media Monitoring Tool”. You could also read Nathan Gilliatt’s recent post on Sentiment Analysis, or read about Philip Sheldrake’s Influence Scorecard, or give up a few hours to reading any of Marshall Sponder’s fascinating social media monitoring experiments at Webmetricsguru.com. Marshall has also written an e-book based on his preparation for the Bootcamp, which you can read here.

If you can’t make it – We’ll be Tweeting using the hashtag #msmbc10, so you can join in the discussion from afar. The whole event will also be filmed, sliced up and published online (for free, of course) over the coming weeks. Also, while we won’t be running the Bootcamp in the UK for a while, we are planning one in New York and another for San Francisco later in 2010.
