Social media marketers rejoice – you can now schedule posts to your Instagram business account. Sort of.
Last year, Instagram began updating their API to Facebook’s Graph API. Don’t worry if that makes no sense to you – essentially it means that Instagram will be able to offer many of the same features that brands enjoy on Facebook.
Most significantly is the addition of scheduled posts. More specifically, brands now have the opportunity to schedule posts on Instagram via official Facebook and Instagram partners – we’re talking accredited platforms such as Sprout Social and Hootsuite.
So while it’s not as simple as saying businesses can now schedule Instagram posts (because you need to pay for a third-party tool), there is at least a legitimate option.
Ryan Holmes, CEO of Hootsuite, said: “The scheduling and publishing of Instagram content has been the number one request for our customers. Now they can manage large volumes of content, multiple team members and multiple Instagram accounts with ease and security.”

Instagram will continue to add new business features to the Graph API over the coming months, and plan to discontinue their old API Platform by 2020 – by which time all developers will have had to migrate across.
